  • Dental Implants from $399!

Hi everyone! Welcome to our Blog.

My name is Dr. Avi Israeli and I am the owner of Sage Dental, a General Dentistry practice in Wall Township (Manasquan), New Jersey. We do all aspects of General Dentistry, and service adults and children alike, and specialize in Dental Implants and Sedation Dentistry.

What makes us different than anyone else in the central New Jersey area? We are able to offer Dental Implants for only $399! With the post and crown, our complete Dental Implants range from $1700 each, a whopping 70% LESS than any other Dentist in this area! How are we able to do this? I have advanced training in the placement of Dental Implants, and the restorative Crown and Bridge, and I preform the entire procedure in my office, without the need for referrals to other Specialists. Therefore, we are able to service you under one roof, which eliminates the extensive fees other Dentists and Specialists will charge you.

Thus, you get top-quality Dental Implants for a fraction of the cost of other Dentists and Specialists! Don't take it from me -- our practice has many satisfied patients from all areas of New Jersey!

A Typical Implant Surgery | Sage Dental | Dr. Avi Israeli

Hello again!

I am often asked about what goes on during an average day a Sage – here is a closer look at a typical Implant Surgery.  Let me stress that I perform all Implant surgeries myself, and many of them are of multiple Implants and very complex cases that other Dentists won’t touch.  This patient, in particular, had four Implants done during his visit.

What is a Dental Implant exactly?  Essentially, it is a screw that is placed into the jawbone, which then is later attached to a Post and a Crown, or the fake tooth, and/or a Bridge (multiple fake teeth).  It is a two part process – the surgery of the actual Dental Implant into the bone, and then, a few months later, the Crown placement that is screwed onto the Implant.  Sometimes patients require bone grafting if their bone is too small or weak, and/or sinus lifts, which we also do prior to placing an Implant.  Our goal is to ensure the longevity of our Dental Implants, and we want to make sure you don’t ever have to have them replaced.

Here is a close up of the four Dental Implants that I placed.

Due to my comprehensive training both in Dental Implants, and in Prosthodontics, I am able to better predict the success of the Dental Implants that I place.  Since I know what the outcome is going to look like, I am able to place the Implants in such a way that the occlusion (the bite) of the teeth prevent unnecessary stress on the structure, and therefore last much longer.

Think of it this way – since I am able to control the entire procedure in my office, the outcome is much more predictable and favorable, rather than sending a patient to multiple specialists, each who do their own part and charge their own fee.  I am able to better anticipate problems and therefore prevent against them, making my success rate extremely high.

Can any Dentist do this?  Technically yes, but most wouldn’t think of trying!  Unless they have had in-depth technical Implant training, attempting large restorations such as this is very risky.  Fortunately, I have been trained by some of the best Implant Surgeons in the country, and I am therefore not afraid to work on large cases involving multiple Dental Implants (sometimes even a full mouth)!

Lastly to answer a few questions that often arise from people considering to have Dental Implants…

Yes, we use top quality Dental Implants.

No, they are not made of plastic (don’t laugh, we were actually asked this once)!  Some other Dentists like to make up stories about us which are not true.

How are we able to keep the price of the Dental Implants so low?  Well, I already answered this question – I do the whole procedure myself under one roof, as opposed to sending it out to specialists.

What is the actual price of the Implant?  The Dental Implant, itself, is $399.  The attached Post and Crown (the tooth part), is $1300.  Combined, the complete Dental Implant is about $1700.  If you need bone grafting (sometimes common), the cost ranges somewhere between $1700-$2000 per Implant.  Compare this to the $4000-$4500 per Implant that you will spend at other Dentists, and you can see why were are New Jersey’s number one choice for Dental Implants!

Do we offer financing options?  Absolutely, through a variety of vendors.

How long has this office existed?  We started our practice in 2006.

How long have I been practicing Dentistry?  I’ve been practicing for 8 years now.

If you have any questions, we are always here to help answer them.  Please don’t hesitate to call!

Spotlight on: Christine | Sage Dental | Dr. Avi Israeli

Our team at Sage Dental is very important to us.  Each week we’d like to spotlight one of our team members.  This week, that team member is Christine, our Front Desk Manager.

Christine’s job at Sage is to process and handle all insurance claims, answer the phones and book appointments, collect payment after treatment options are discussed, and make the entire office run efficiently!  She has been working in the Dental industry for the past 9 years, and it shows!

In addition to her work in the Dental field, Christine’s background is in Esthetics.   She is also a recent newlywed of 2 years to a wonderful and adoring husband!  Chris is an animal lover, and has two cats to pamper when not at the office.  In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her huge family and friends, travel, learn the piano, and take zumba classes!   She is truly a well-rounded woman!

So stand up, Christine, and take a bow!  We are proud of your accomplishments and thrilled to have you as part of our Dental family!

Meet Our Staff | Sage Dental | Dr. Avi Israeli

It would seem fitting to introduce some of our wonderfully talented staff at Sage Dental.  We are a small group, a close family as we like to call it, who all believe in the fundamental ideas of good oral health, and working together as a team.  (The theme sound to “Wonder Pets” is now running through my head!)

Albeit I am a family man, and during the working hours of what seems like sometimes endless days, these wonderful ladies are an extension of my family at home.

First and foremost, we have our two amazing Dental Assistants, Melissa and Bonnie.

Melissa, a recent newlywed, is great at talking to, and comforting patients, making them feel “at home” and relaxed while they undergo dental procedures.  She often assists me with implant surgeries, and is very intuitive, knowing my next step before I even ask her!

Bonnie, a mother of three amazing children, has a very easy time relating to our patients, and whose positive and energetic personality makes just about anyone feel good!  Her enthusiastic attitude is one of her many wonderful attributes that make Bonnie such a special and important member of our team.

Next, our Front Desk Manager, Christine, is responsible for all of our office policies on a day to day basis.  She is the voice on the phone who books your appointments, she is the person who deals with our insurance and referrals, she is the friendly smile who greets you at the door, and she is the organization behind all our business practices.

In short, Christine runs the front end of our practice, and her dynamic and enthusiastic personality makes her invaluable.  She is amazing in every sense of the word, and we are all truly blessed to have her as part of our family!

Our hygienist, Stacey (not pictured), recently started working with us at Sage Dental, and helps our patients achieve good dental health by providing routine cleanings, and periodontal scaling.  She is extremely gifted and also owns her own Pet Sitting service as a side interest!

Lastly, my wife, Deborah, is the General Manager of this practice.  Unfortunately we don’t have a photo of her – as the owner and photographer of Redhead Photography LLC, she is always behind the camera, but she is an integral part of our team.  Deborah is responsible for managing all the branding, marketing, advertising, and publicity associated with our practice, and has helped grow this practice from nothing, to the practice we are today.  (Thanks, Deb!)

Just as an ending thought.  I wouldn’t be anywhere without this wonderful team of ladies who devote their time, efforts, energy, enthusiasm, and kindness on a day to day basis, for the good of our patients and our practice.  To you all, I say thank you.  You are very much appreciated!

3 Easy Steps To Diagnose a Root Canal | Sage Dental | Dr. Avi Israeli

It’s happened to everyone.  You’re enjoying a nice meal with your family, and you take a bite of your Egg Roll, only to realize that you get a sharp pain in the back of your mouth.  Did you break a tooth?  (Nothing feels crunchy!)  Do you have a cavity?  Perhaps.  Does the pain you incurred want to make you jump off the Brooklyn Bridge in broad daylight?  If the answer to that question is “yes”, you probably have a really bad cavity that is in need of a root canal.

The dreaded words.  Why does it get such a bad reputation?  A root canal is nothing more than an infection, caused by a large cavity, that extends into the root of the tooth.  This infection, made up of bacteria, causes pressure inside the tooth, which then puts pressure on the nerve, and gives you pain.  The only way to treat this infection is with a combination of antibiotics, and a root canal procedure (assuming, of course, that you want to save your tooth).

How do you know that you need a root canal, and not just a large filling?  There are three ways to test to give you a general idea of whether or not the infection has reached the nerve.

1.  Hurts on biting.

You bite down, you cry.  Pretty simple.

2.  Hurts with hot or cold.

Take a sip of cold water.  If it hurts, it’s more than a simple cavity.

3.  Constant throbbing pain.

If the discomfort does not go away, it’s most likely in need of a root canal.

First, don’t panic!  A root canal procedure is a fairly simple and pain-free experience.  Years ago, novocaine (the numbing material used in many dental procedures) was immature and not widespread, so the experience of having a root canal procedure was not enjoyable.  Today’s dentistry is very much different.

In the procedure, a rubber dam (plastic shield) is placed over the mouth to prevent ingesting hazardous materials (such as the bleach used to clean the tooth).  Then a hole is drilled into the center of the tooth, and the nerve is cleaned out.  It is then filled with an inert material (gutta percha).  There’s an old dental jingle, “gutta percha won’t hurtcha!”

Lastly, the remainder of the tooth gets a temporary filling, until a post and crown are applied on the weakened structure.  (Without the post and crown, the tooth, which is weakened by the large cavity, will eventually fracture and need to be pulled.)

All of this is done by using novacaine, gas, and or sedation (if necessary), and is a pain-free experience!

How do you prevent such a large cavity from forming? Make sure you come visit your Dentist regularly for checkups and cleaning, so if there are any developing problems, they will be caught at infancy, rather than after they have caused an infection.
